Lunchtime Debate: Fossil-free Future – What role will plastics play?
Many countries across the globe have set ambitious goals to transition to a fossil-free society in the coming years. But as we navigate this transition, we have to ask the question: What measures should we take to effectively address the issue of plastics? We also need to consider the impact and significance of plastic products in the future – and which materials we should use in the production of them.
The central question of the debate is focused on the future of plastic products and their role in a fossil-free society. Is it possible to live without plastic? What key factors can motivate and drive the transition toward a plastic-free society? Can CO2-based plastics be the ultimate solution for addressing multiple challenges? The debate will allow the panel and the attendees to exchange ideas and insights on the challenges and opportunities associated with plastics in a fossil-free future.
The panel includes
Anders Egede Daugaard, Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, DTU
Louise Lerche-Gredal, CEO, Plastic Change
Helle Vingolf, CEO, RC Plast
Rasmus Hvid Kærsgaard, CEO, Quantafuel
The panel will discuss:
How can we address the issue of plastics as we undertake the transition towards a fossil-free state society?
What are the potential long-term implications and significance of plastic products as we navigate the transition, and how can we mitigate any negative impacts associated with their use?
What materials should we prioritize for the production of future products, considering the global shift towards a fossil-free state?
