Come get a tour of the newly constructed, green area called Karens Minde Aksen located in Sydhavnen. Experience a coherent urban space incorporated with numerous solutions purposed to handle water during cloudbursts.

Karens Minde Aksen is a key project in realizing Copenhagen Municipality's Cloudburst Management Plan regarding the future management of large amounts of rainwater during cloudbursts to prevent local floodings.

Åben Festival is Østerbro and Nordhavns new cultural festival arranged by Kulturdistriktet. Together we will cherish diversity, creativity and new relations across the local areas pulsing cultural life. The festival creates new possibilities and perspectives on the city and the culture, both for experienced and new cultural creators, but also for the audience of the festival. Åben Festival opens the city and lets the city and its architecture be the scene for culture, community and experience.

Copenhagen's architecture and business history, the population's changing way of life and consumption, forms the framework for everyday lifestyles and the human stories portrayed in the exhibition.

The material has been collected on location by photographer Ulf Svane and historian Mathias Kobberrød Rasmussen over the past three years. The places bears testimony to Copenhagen's development over the last more than 100 years, and reflect the city's architectural development and culture in a historical perspective, vividly narrated by the owners and employees of the places themselves.

A local citizen with a master of science in sustainable cities and a researcher / lecturer within the synergy between experience economy and sustainable solutions will guide the participants around in Sankt Kjelds neighbourhood and show how good examples in climate adaptation also can enhance livability. We will take you on the journey - how an idea transformed from a study in local health to handling cloudburst with co-benefits in improved livability, growth of existing and new local businesses, and neighbourhood branding.
